Who I am and what I do
I am a qualified and accredited executive coach, a creative trainer and an experienced facilitator. I founded Ford Consulting in 2001 and have been successfully helping managers to develop their leadership potential ever since. I have over 2000 coaching hours gained from working with clients from a variety of public, private and third sector organisations.

In 2009 I undertook training to become a coaching supervisor and was among the first few supervisors in the UK to be accredited by the Association for Coaching.  I have over 750 hours supervision experience and thoroughly enjoy my work supporting and developing coaches either working independently or within organisations.

I am an active member of the Association for Coaching and the Global Supervisors’ Network.

Coaching Style
My coaching style is a mix of practical structure and creative playfulness, whilst remaining realistic and results focussed.

I assist my clients to set clear, challenging yet achievable goals and contract to ensure alignment with team and organisational aims where appropriate.

I encourage clients to identify and work on issues within their control and to prioritise these so that effort is directed towards issues that will make a real difference to them, their performance and their organisation.

I am flexible in my approach, offering a variety of interventions depending on my client’s issues, goals, learning styles and preferences. These range from skilled questioning and dialogue to more creative methods such as the use of images, colour, metaphor, music, movement and the outdoors.

Theories underpinning my work include; emotional intelligence, change systems, clean language, emergent knowledge, positive psychology, neuro-diversity and adult learning.

Areas of Specialism – Coaching
My areas of expertise include; managing the transition from doing to leading,  developing leadership capability, enabling and supporting organisational change, building confidence, maximising individual and collaborative performance, promoting creative thinking and innovation, communicating more effectively, making career decisions, developing coaching skills, enhancing personal effectiveness, integrating theoretical learning with real-life issues and harnessing reflective learning.

I also have experience of working with individuals with mental health and neuro-diversity conditions, enabling them to use their strengths to perform at their best in the workplace.

Supervision Style
My supervision style is reflective and imaginative and I use a variety of creative methods to aid exploration and learning including the outdoors, images, colour, metaphor, music and movement.

Models used in my supervision work include Hawkin’s Seven Eyed model, Page and Woskett’s Cyclical model and Gibbs’ model for reflection.

Areas of Specialism – Supervision
My areas of expertise include; developing creative skills for coaching, providing external supervision for internal coaches, promoting reflective learning, providing on-going practice opportunities for coaches, supporting coaches working towards accreditation and developing coaches in training.

Prior to setting up Ford Consulting I spent ten years both nursing and managing in the NHS before moving into clinical training in the Healthcare Industry. From here I progressed to the role of UK Training and Development Manager for a large global dialysis company.

The skills which I developed during my nursing career enable me to build strong working relationships quickly. However my sound commercial background ensures that I am not afraid to challenge my corporate clients to seize their potential and heighten their performance.

When I’m not working, I enjoy walking in the hills, reading crime novels and listening to music. I also sing with a local choir and love going to the theatre.
